Re: mountain pine #1

The participants on the German forum gave Christine a straight A.
Here is a more subtle pot.
I have added the Monk's pots to my pot library which is more than 200 by now!

Re: mountain pine #1

Hi Everyone,
This is the fourth attempt I am making at writing. I have lost several rather lengthy replies and am reaching frustration saturation at this point.I will try to reconstuct my letter again!

I like the virtual pots. #10 is a nice shape, but #11 is a better proportion for this tree. I know that potting up collected trees can be very tricky with their awkward root systems. I suspect it will have to be a rather outsized pot, certainly in the begining anyway. Is there a Horst pot on anyones' virtual collection that might work? I love his pots!!
This type of virtual takes me about an hour or so. Pines and larches are fairly easy because I can paint on the individual needles and add branchlets as I want. Matching color and adding highlights and shadows helps to blend my additions into the real foliage. Sometimes I use the blur tool to soften the hard lines of the drawing tool. I use the same techniques for a bare deciduous tree. Deciduous foliage is more difficult to make look natural, as the leaves need to be cloned and moved around, which is awkward. I am also handicapped by my limited knowledge of the computer. I still don't know how to move pots around from one picture to another. I wish I could have a 3D holigram of these trees to really work with the branch placement properly.

Christine,
Your Virtual was a big hit. Keep them coming!! I don't believe that remark about being handicapped though. Good job.

Christine,

I wish I were as "handicapped" as you with your drawing abilites.
This virtual thread is running on the German forum at the same time. Christine, you are the new star!
I dare to state that someone who can do outstanding virtuals MUST be able to do outstanding bonsai. Christine, why don't we know about your outstanding trees (yet)?

best regards
Walter Pall, and admirer
