Moss
Hi,
I found this lying in the garden. It's a piece of a brick that had some soil on it. Moss grew on it and now it looks kind of nice. Could I use it as an accentplant ?? ![]() |

Re: Moss
Rene,
I think you answered your own question! You like how it looks, so of course you can use it. It's certainly not in the classical style, but people are always exploring new styles. Accent plantings are often meant to suggest season and place. To me, yours suggests spring in the city - because here in the spring in seattle, there's lots of old brick and lots of moss. I figure it would be well matched with a tree that looks like an urban tree (low environmental stresses, little light competition) and less well matched with a windswept or mountain-dwelling tree. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Moss
Rene... Why not! I have not gotten into accent plants (yet), but feel that your presentation is as good as some I have seen in with very nice trees. OMC got it right in my mind, it does need to be with the proper tree. I think you have the eye for that.

Re: Moss
Rene_Voortwist: Vertually every accent plant on the market started in just this manor. Good job, nature has done an exelent job of presenting this little clump of moss. By the way this is your art so if you like it, it flys.

Re: Moss
I think the way it is being presented is what makes the idea work. The dish is brick in color and the water makes it wet and cool to look at. Its inviting, simple and not overstated.

Re: Moss
Thanks all for the replies. I will take good care of it and see if I can find a tree that fits. The water servers a double purpose. It looks good, and it keeps the piese of brick wet. I would have never thought about making something like this myself. That shows you can never beat mother nature I guess !
