You have a hedge honeysuckle - not a vine variety - probably Lonicera Nitida. It has tiny leaves and will heal over cuts eventually - especially if planted in the ground. Buds will pop all over the place and can be wired into position easily. Get it growing vigourously and you'll be rubbing out new buds from the trunk all the time.

I believe the smaller leaf varieties on my property on Nitida, but I don't think this one is. Sadly, none of the smaller leaf varieties are that impressive.

This one's leaves are signifcantly larger than Nitida. I have Nick Lenz's book, but it deals with the Nitida variety, not this variety which I'm still trying to figure out.

It's definitely a shrub variety and not a vine. I haven't found any vines come to think of it.

Let it grow out for the first year!

Hi,
I would just let it grow "wild" in the pot for the first year. With or without both trunks. Then you can see where the strongest growth is and then decide, next year, which one to cut. Often, newly collected trees decide which trunks or branches they want to keep (or shed) which is why collectors often keep extra length on trunks, branches, etc. I have had good luck with honey suckle. Have fun!

P.S. Feed it well after it starts to leaf out.

Exactly what I had in mind. I left the two trunks because one has a better line and the other is slightly smaller. So, I thought, I'd let the tree choose.

Well, it is definitely budding out all over the place. There are literally clumps of buds everywhere. Does anyone think the first picture might make a better front than the second picture?

I kind of like the way the single root extends down to the soil.
Anyways, I need to start rubbing off the buds and can't decide.

Gday Yandros!

Interesting find! Of the 3 views you've provided, I like the 1st one best. In this view, the tree is as well-grounded as it is in the 2nd pic, but without the distraction of the crossing roots. For the sake of curiosity, what does it look like from the angle suggested in the attached pic?

Thanks and good luck.

Fly.
