Re: Lodgepole Pine

To say that I appreciate your craftmanship is possibly an understatement. Maby you will be willing to teach us some of the techniques that you use to keep your material in such good vigor and health..First what is your environment like?

Re: Lodgepole Pine

Walter, is this pine the one you entered in the JAL 2001 World Bonsai Contest? I see it placed as a finalist. Congratulations!

Regards,

Matt

Re: Lodgepole Pine

Sorry for answering so late. I was on a three-week tour through the American Souteast.

Yes, this is the tree which is in the JAL-100
No, the pot is not natural, it is made by William Vlaanderen from Holland. The material is his secrete. It was looking a bit too new and shiny when I got it. I painted it with a strong delution of lime sulphur and it looks like very old and natural now. The pot broke in the meanwhile when I went to the Gingko Award in September to exhibit the tree there. The tree itself is OK though.
best gegards

Re: Lodgepole Pine

This is a very nice specimen, my only problem is the needles close to the pot, just my opinion and not saying its bad, it just l0ooks funny (no offense meant).
