Large Chinese Elm 2006

Here's one of my larger Chinese elms. Just had my friend Howard take some development progress photos today for me and thought I'd share this one.

It is pretty much at the tipping point and needs to be reined in a bit. You can see that some of the terminals are too large and will be cut back a bit hard this year to be replaced by slimmer, more delicate ramification. It's about 2 years away from what I'm aiming at. Anyway, Hope you enjoy this one.

Kind regards,
Andy

Thanks Chris. Here's a photo from the year 2000. Forgot about this photo and had to dig it up. I didn't realize just how far this tree had come. ;-) Thanks for asking!

I should mention that the cool pot was custom made for this tree by Mike Hagedorn, who is now over in Japan winning Kokufu prizes. ;-) Seriously.

Kind regards,
Andy

Nice shot, Andy. It's great to see examples of what can be achieved in just a few years when one applies good technique and an artistic eye.

This is where we should be setting the bar, folks!

Best regards,
Carl

Love the transformation of this elm.
All too often I see a tree and say "I wish that was mine", one of these days.
Thanks for sharing Andy.

Hi Andy,

I absolutely love this elm. This tree is outstanding, and I cannot wait to see the "finished article".

All the best,

Aaron

Certainly a fine tree. Great pot too, but I'd like to see it just a bit larger.
