Kusamono - Hosta 'Medusa'

I have recently begun practicing with some kusamono and would value any opinions or advice on the following Hosta 'Medusa' I received from Ireland a few months back from Bali Nursery. It was shipped bare root and arrived in fair condition.

In order to understand this species better, I shipped one to a friend in Seattle as well who is much more experienced in kusamono than I. I hope he will update us on his success in his growing zone as well.

Will -

I share your enthusiasum for the miniature hosta. I don't have experience with the species that you mention but I am growing 'Feather Boa,' 'Little White Lines', 'Venusta', 'Pandora's Box', 'Crepe Suzette', 'Tiny Temple Chimes', and 'Teaspoon'.

I am playing with these with the idea of making a few accent plants.

This Hosta is a quick grower and the wild leaves which give this one it's name of 'Medusa' are quite a sight. I'll update all with photos when they flower this summer.

Will,

Yours is looking very nice - and quite a bit better than mine. In part, I chose an inappropriately-colored pot for mine. I do have anyother dwarf hosta that I'm happier with; I'll post pictures shortly.

Best regards,
Carl

Carl, with your experience and talent with accent plantings I seriously doubt that my hostas can come close to competing with yours. But thanks for the kind words, just the same.
