pics are kinda blurry, try using a tripod. It's a good looking little maple, if you plan to repot, insure you do this within season, you don't want to be wiping out your investment. The best time for a repot on maples is going to be in the end of dormant season, when buds on the tree have begun swelling and just before they leaf out (looks like you missed it this year). At this time, you will also want to address those young crossing roots. I would seek some advice at your local club, and do plenty of research before doing the root work and repot. Others here may have more to add on the repot subject.

Yeah i guess now isnt the ideal time to repot, nevermind i might get the pot and wait until next year
![]() I think the crossing roots you are referring to are actually wires (or twine in this case) holding it into the pot, just not hidden mega well ![]() Im hopefully doing a class mid june/july so i might be able to take the maple along and see what he says, i dont have a club but theres a nursery where i can take classes and get all i need ![]() Cheers Rowan

Hold off on repotting until the tree has no leaves (FALL or EARLY SPRING). It's also the best time to review the structure for pruning and restyling, photographed against an uncluttered background.
In the meantime, be sure to read the ***FAQ*** to review proper watering, and keep your tree outside, elevated off heat reflecting/radiating surfaces like pavement and masonry. Regards, Matt

Ok thankyou, i will wait until spring to repot, i'll be interested to see how the root system is, i think it will be really good as its potted in double red line akadama and grit, which i will have to purchase before repotting.
I am going to water it tomorrow as it looks a bit dry tonight and at the moment i am putting it outside during the day and bringing it in at night until it adjusts, as it was under a poly tunnel cover previously. Cheers for all the help ![]() Rowan

If the freezes are over where you live, simply leave it outside. The humidity indoors is very low, and you are doing much more harm than good.
