Kingsvilles ready for exhibit

May 10-13 is the annual Mother's Day celebration at Filoli, a fabulous mansion and gardens owned by the National Trust, located in Woodside CA.
My club, Sei Boku Bonsai Kai in San Mateo exhibits bonsai each year as part of the festivities.
Check the link: http://www.filoli.org/

One of my exhibits is this Kingsville rock planting. Height from table is 13.5 inches.

Peter, My guess would be somewhere between 30-40 years. They are very mature specimens.

The trees do look old. The rocks are beautiful. Where did you find them?

Todd, I bought them years ago from a landscape supply company. The sold them under the name, "Desert Rose". Not being a geologist, I have no idea where they came from.

Lovely work. Really lovely - pot is so well prepared, perfect gravel. Really nice.

Very nice design, Mike.

The only problem I have is that I find the bright colors of the gravel really distracting, and I miss the presence of some moss. Right now it makes me feel that I am looking at a little island on a beach, which is probably not the image that you are trying to create.

G'day Atilla...Mike...

If you see "...a little island on a beach...", then I think that Mike has been successful.

May not be exactly what Mike intended...but, you and I may see two totally different things as we watch a gorgous blond drive by in a Jaguar convertible.

Mike...as usual, very impressive...
