Evan,

I have a boxwood myself, however it was cut back quite severely due to the placement of the secondary branches off the trunk. So I haven't had much experience with refining foliage or for that matter working with branch refinement for species. But, with that being said, I believe your boxwood has a couple of concerns at least that I see:

1) lack of taper or almost reverse taper; and 2) there are three main branches that essentially grew from one point half way up the tree which detracts from the natural right/slanting flow of this plant. My suggestion would be to remove the "middle" secondary branch on the tree or maybe even concider a deadwood affect which works well on boxwood's and then becomes an intregal part of the design of the tree while softning the appearance of the three clustered branches off the trunk. As I see it, this could become a nice slanting bonsai by addressing the one area mentioned above and further refinement of the foliage and smaller branches to open up the tree then it is today. Don't know if this helped but good luck. Rob

Thank you very much for the comments/suggestions thus far. I like the idea both of you guys have provided. Can i do the deadwood affect with my dremmel? Just shave off the bark and pinch the leaves correct?

Thanks again
