Juniper Suggestions Wanted
Alot of junipers lately made me take a look at my pics of the work I have ahead of me.
This juniper has a very large base, about 4-5" at the soil. At the moment it stands about 30 inches....these are guestimates by just looking at the pics. Any suggestions for style, perhaps a virtual idea? Sorry bout the back drop. I can stare at this tree, and not get a feel for it just yet, thought I'd see what the consensus is. Any and all ideas, comments welcomed Paul

This plant reminds me of some of the Cal. Junipers that I see dug. Nothing wrong with that, just not a quick solution. I think if it were mine, I would leave it in the container for one year, but would prune all the branches back and leave only about 1 inch of green on each branch. You should get an explosion in the spring, fertilize the snot out of it, and I bet next year we will be looking at a whole different plant to style.
I could do a virtual of what I would do right now, and I think I could get a fairly good looking tree out of it, but I would be wrapping branches all over the place to make them seem shorter. When it is all done it is not very tidy, and would look a lot better if the branches were "walked back" some. Bonsai-al

Al,
pardon my "oh yeah sure you were", but I was planning that exact thing actually. I see the inside being the future of this tree. One question tho, you still would root prune it before the year yes? Paul
