Juniper styling issues

Hello there,
I have had this Juniper in my collection for about 2 years as a potted plant to thicken the trunk and branches. I have done some shaping, (eg, cutting off dead branches and making jins) but unfortunatly my limited expertise may need some good advice from the brilliant people at Bonsai talk.

I was hoping for some critique on where I should possibly go from this point, and maybe a vert if some one might manage to spare a few mins from their busy days.

The actual tree is about 6 years old, but I have had it for a little over 2 years, and managed to survive a major bonsai hollicost I had here due to a few local pussy cats.
Any hoo, I look forward to some responses and enlightenment.

Thanks heaps, Mac.

time and new growth would be my suggestion. the branching is too thick and the trunk line looks too straight as it goes off to the left. constant pinching and backbudding may help produce some new branching to work with in the future. good luck. maybe one day something like this. it will take a few years and may not be achievable, but it could be worth a try.

Styling issues...

Mac,

I think that this tree has very good potential already. Since you asked...I have taken the liberty to suggest a few branch reorientations. See the attached picture (I suggest you leave the branches in the yellow oval alone for now because your apex is in there somewhere). I am by no means trying to tell you what you should do, this is your tree--but instead to show you one of MANY possibilities. If the tree were mine, I would wire all major branches (when the time is right) and spend an afternoon trying different stylings.

Enjoy...
Scott

Hey Mac,
A couple of thoughts- you could let it grow out a little, then create a windswept style. It has good form for that, or just let it grow a little b4 you decide. just some
thoughts from a downeast Mainer!
Make it a good ONE!

You might have an upright tree following this line- try playing with the planting angle...

Or with the sharp angle, a semi or full cascade, the quicker of all options...

Thanks for the responses guys,

Tachigi, I will try and get a new pic with a neutral back ground today at some stag for you. I am still developiing this tree, the growth on it was very sparadic and whispy( if thats a word ), due to the pinching I have done for the past two years, it has back budded, and made the growth more compact and lush.
Its not by any means a work of art just yet, but compared to how it first started, it is doing very well.

Thanks, Mac

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the Ideas, it hass given me somthing to think about.
I think I might leave it to grow for a few season more before the next mode of preperation, but I will keep a firm plan in my head of where I think it might go, unless I get any more suggestions.

Thanks again, Mac
