Thanks for the virtual. That makes a lot of sense and I will most certainly be thinking of that in my future work on this one. The apex has bothered me from day one.

(I'm not sure why I didn't get your post earlier - seems I'm not subscribed to the thread anymore??)

I should post a new photo soon, as on the advice of Paul Sweeney a while ago I have recently repotted the tree backwards to extend the trunk. I probably leaned it back too much and now the cascade looks more like the original out of place branch. *sighs* But for now I need to let it recover from root pruning, so I'll not reposition it too soon I think. Since then I have also started sweeping the cascade back around under the apex. (To the left in the old pictures above).
