Juniper squamata blue carpet

Hi, I recently purchase this tree and it measures 1,20 m wide by 50 cm high. I am not experienced in modelling but this is what I did. This is my second posting, I would appreciate your comments and directions.

Thanks.

Benvindo tri !

One thing I learned about conifers is that branches without needles dye.
Of course if what you are planning is a twin trunk, no problem, you can just take the tree another way.
I'm telling you this because your styling reminds me of what I did in this post.

In the first couple steps it looks like you removed some lower branching that might have been useful in the final design.

And it took me some time to understand it...
Someone else (sorry I can't find who) also said that lower branches are worth their weight in gold, and this is because their growth and later sacrifice can give you trunk taper (which at the time I didn't have an idea what it was).

If that was my tree, I would move it to a larger pot feed it well and let it grow wild for a couple (perhaps more than a couple) of years.

Anyway here's my email: duarte ARROBA itij PONTO mj PONTO pt...
Where in Lisbon are you?

Hey Tri. I think you have done a great job so far on your trunk design, considering this is one of your first efforts, and you don't know much about " modeling ". Your tree reminds me of those old tall thin pines you see up in the mountains, whose branches have been bent and broken with snow. Don't worry about the small trunk to the left dieing, you can turn it into a dead trunk later. Which will make your compoisition even more believable. I would't do anything else until repotting season for junipers in your area( I don't know when.) Resist the urge to bend the branches back and forth to see what they will look like as, this may kill them. Other than basic care, I would leave it alone until repotting, then I would pot it as a twin trunk, with the thicker trunk a little in front of the thinner one. In the meantime , read and find out all you can about bonsai. Welcome to Bonsai Blue.

Thanks for your great answers. I am trying to make a twin trunk style with a jin in the lower branch. Do you think I should cut 1/3 out of the main branches? It seems to me that it is too tall for the size of the trunks... Or should I plant it in the ground to gain trunk size?
