sides

I think both sides are equally buityfull. I would show the first side until the wound heals and then just go with the wind.

I think the problem is not so much with the front but the middle branch competing with the apex. It defies logic as a branch in that position (crook of the trunk) would probably just die. I would get it out of that full cascade pot, too, and do something like this:

Just a thought - how about changing the planting angle ever so slightly, as in this virtual?

It seems to help with the balance of the composition.

(I've also dropped the lower branch just a tiny bit, but other than that changed absolutely nothing about the tree.)

I agree with Matt but I don't like the pot he chose. I'd choose a round, deeper pot than Matt but i don't have one on hand..... or do I.....well this is the best I can do.

I've got to get some sleep. good night. See ya's later.

Thanks all for the interesting observations. I too think I'll stay with side one mainly because of the unhealed wound on side two.
I just repotted it yesterday and didn't want to disturb the roots too much. At next repotting in the spring, if I keep it in the same pot, it will be centered more and the angle a little more upright.
