Juniper Ishitsuki

Hi everybody

This is my first post to this forum. I'm a bonsai enthusiast from Costa Rica. I'm 22 and been doing bonsai for four years.
Most of the time I'm a lurker (and also a silent admirer of a lot of the work done here), but today I wanted to share an ishitsuki I`ve been working on for a while. Recently, I had the opportunity to join it to a slab, partly because of the difficulty of finding/importing quality suiban in my country. The tree is a Juniperus var San jose. The main rock has an all natural shape, and had natural cavity to plant the tree!

Any commments/suggestions/virtuals would be most welcome.

Happy bonsai
Juan

First class tree, not much room for improvement if any that only age will bring.

Juan,

Wow, what an entrance to make on your first post lol!!

I think that is a stunning composition, that could have been plucked from a fairy tale book. The juniper is beautifully styled and the semi cascade is accentuated by its positioning on the rock, almost inviting the adventurer to pass safely underneath it on his journey.

The rock itself is extremely pleasing to the eye, with interesting shapes and textures which contrasts perfectly, the mosses and other small plants. Everything is in proportion. It looks like real life, shrunk down to a few feet.

I love it! Congratulations on a superb landscape, that as Vance said.. will surely improve with age.

Kindest regards,

Aaron

I concur with my comrades, Juan.

Aaron summed up my feelings, I think.

These are most pleasing and I hope you post more.

Those are super, I,m new here too. Been a lover of little trees for 30 years. Used to be .a tree surgeon -lumberjack. Saw my first trees in Hong Kong. Was hooked then stated growing them when I got home in 1968 met Jack Winckle at hidden lake gardens in Michigan, he has a ammazing collection and helped me see the way.

Will take some pictures of my trees tommorrow and post them. Just planted my first forrest from throw away nursery trees(maples). And potted a Chinese elm that another nursery gave me last year,Well traded him a Philapine Banyon (a cutting from) that was brought back to the usa after WW11. the tree was a war prize captured from its Japense spy owner who had been living in The Philipenese before WW11. It died back to its roots in the 1975 freeze here in Fla. I got the pot and the trunk In 1976 it sprouted from the roots and is back to it,s old looks.

Four views of the same planting, Evan! But at least you liked the front best.
