Juniper

Hello,
These are a couple pictures of my newly purchased Juniper. The first picture is what its future front will be. The second picture is of how it currently is potted. For some reason it was potted like that. In the fall I want to repot it in the proper direction, put sulphur on the scrapped away areas of the bark, and define the branches a little bit more. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Scott.

Looks good. The soil looks a little muddy though, maybe its just the picture.
I would definately like to see how it looks after you do a little work on it.

Thanks for the comments. The soild may look a bit muddy because it was just watered. I will make sure to post pictures after the work has been done.
Scott.

As far as styling goes maybe looks like it would be best suited as a topiary form.

Hi Scotty,

You can use google search images for "topiary" or even "topiary juniper", it should pull up lots of examples.

Is there a particular reason for repotting this juniper in the fall in stead of waiting to do this and repot it in spring?

Nice material by the way!

scott,

have a look at this. It's probably what you had in mind. I think you should cut away the lower left hand branch, and form some pads out of the remaining branches. The black triangle shows the apex which you can work on. You could add some jins, the potential shari at the base of the trunk looks promising as does the overall tree. Good find!

What do you mean? Make it into a rabbit or something or what?
