Japanese Hornbeam Repot

I repotted my Carpinus japonica into a Sara Rayner pot this spring. Just thought I'd post it. She makes such nice pots! This one is a light blue with darker blue and gray tones.

Does sara reynor have a website? I've always wanted to pick up a sara reynor pot.

Gary, Excellent Hornbeam.....I am beginning to venture into the realm of Carpinus lately. I have two, one that has seen better days, and one recent aquisition that is doing excellent. Thanks for sharing your tree!!

Charles,

Sara Rayner --Potter in Redwing Minnesota

I have the fortune of being able to get to see Sara personally twice a year (at the Minnesota Bonsai Society Auctions). I have purchased about 15 pots a from her over the years...quite an artist!!

below is the score from the fall of last year....large pot is a 23"oval
( i didnt run out to measure the oval I am guessing for now)

Treebeard,
Your right. I just went out and looked at the pot. I thought it was the bright sunshine but it isn't. It's cloudy here today and the pot looks more tanish on the front. The other side is blue. Trust me.<grin>
It's a strange pot. The back side od the pot is a light pale blue and the sides are tanish with a runny blue glaze. Next repotting maybe I'll turn the pot around.
I think it might be one of her type "k" glazes that went south. http://www.redwing.net/~daalms/

I bought it at her booth last Summer at a show.

pdbbonsai,

Here's the same tree in August of 1991.
