Re: Japanese Black Pine

This tree has great potential. The top of the tree needs opening up by detail wiring. Bring the branches down until you achieve the Japanese triangle. This is worth a try. Also you could attempt to thicken the trunk by giving it hard knocks with a wooden hammer. This can have the effect to thickening at the point of impact. The branch on the back could be dropped right down to below the bend this would enable the top branches to be opened up and give the tree a lighter feel.

Rip, you been feeling the coca leaves too much. Everyone knows that a triangle on a Japanese black pine, done in America, is Vulcan. May you live long and prosper..

Al: Live long I've got down, prosper is an alusive little trick that I haven't turned yet. Let me know when you find a bonsai that grows little gold coins, I would like a cutting.

Re: Japanese Black Pine

I like it. Looks kind of like a red pine now. I get the feeling I am not seeing the front because of the planting angle tilting back, but it's hard to turn the tree or tilt it forward in a virtual!

Good job Al!

Here's bonsaial's virtual pine again, unchanged, for page 2:
