low branches

I think the low branching is making it appear like a shrub instead of a tree. Maybe you could remove them over time. It would be nice to have a major branch on the left side of the trunk about 1/3 up.

By the way, my wife just saw the crabapple you posted in the museum, and it's wonderful! Everyone if you haven't seen it click on Wim's "My Bonsai Exhibit" link and check it out!

Thank you Matt, for your comments..... but in fact this Jade tree belongs to my wife. Once I also suggested to cut the lowest branche. Her simple answer was: "If you do so, I do the same with you!" So I don't dare!

nice afra..i agree with Matt it does look a bit bush like. Very busy
down low and needs refining throughout the tree. Bring the foilage in closer. I hope your wife doen't plan a trip to Va Beach anytime soon...lol..here's a pic showing a lil of what i mean.

Thank you Tom,

I see you are a Photoshop-enthousiast too.
Yes I have to bring the folage in closer. But my wife wasn't very happy with your idea.
The tree looks already better on this moment as when I took the picture in the year 2001. Also on the picture, the two lowest branches seem to be on one line. In real it's not.
I like to photograph my bonsai, but it is difficult to make good ones.

Greeting

Wim

well, mon...no problem on the name callin..just don't call me 'late for dinner'..my name is Tom by the by..
Paint Shop Pro 7 is what i'm using..lots of times pictures hide so much of what is actually happening in the tree. Capturing the essence of a tree is an art in itself. My virtual was mostly to give a look see at possibilities. It is fun...I'll have to get a pic of one of my afra's and post soon...
