Its time to go to work

I found another one of my hopeless trees and thought I would share what it looks like now. After that post the tree was in decline, so I left it be for a couple of years to let it gain strength. This year it must of taken to the pot and has grown quite well. I know that there is way to much foliage to see into the tree so I will go in and thin it a bit.

But for now which ,at the present would you use for the front

Your comments do mean alot
Regards
John

I think this is one for the sales table. I wouldn't thin it. I would sell. It starts out poorly at the soilline and doesn't get any better. A little overgrown like this - a buyer may see some potential.

Side 2 or 3 has the best view in the photos, but I can't see if the trunk is rushing forward or falling away (I suspect one of each) You have a lot of good stuff in your gallery. I don't think this one is going to improve much.

Regards,

Matt

'Holy Cow Matt! You just fell for the old Walter Pall set up!'

Al, this one you have to take back. I take offense to that statement. You put me in a corner wher I don't see myself at all. Next time you think a little before posting.

In my section only trees that are somehow ready for exhibits are critiqued. Consistently some blokes don't read this or don't understand it or think their material is ready for show which it is not at all. I had this twice a week and eventually slammed the door at the nose of one of these because it was quite irritating to constantly tell these ignorants that they had no clue.

This here is an open section. Everybody has the right to ask for critique and help. I would never make a clearly rude statement to a stranger. If it were you, I would say that the tree in question does not really have much potential and is not worth your time. Go pick a better one! But then I know you personally and have a feeling how you would accept such a statement.

To a stranger I would say that yes, there is better material around and next time give the selection a bit more effort but while we are here, we might as well try to find some solutions to this problem together.

best regards
Walter Pall

Hi John,

Given the fact that this is a "hopeless" tree, I would be tempted to use it to try some extreme bending techniques to make some curves into the trunk. If it works the outcome could be very nice, if it fails it's not a big loss. Take out your trunk splitter, raffia and lots of wire and give it a go !

regards, René

Please note, in case someone missed it. I said what I would do, not necessarily what the owner should do.

Matt

Hey Matt I'm with you. No problemo. Its your opinion and I respect that. I know this tree is not good stuff probably not even that. But good stuff is hard to find.
Matt: I did say this though: ((I found another one of my hopeless trees and thought I would share what it looks like now))

Like Rene said ((Given the fact that this is a "hopeless" tree, I would be tempted to use it to try some extreme bending techniques to make some curves into the trunk.)) Now thats a thought Rene but I think I will practice some shari work on it first. Maybe try to get some movement with shari.

Al: ((John is going to post something really marvelous and we are going to be eating crow))
Now I will have to do something with this tree,,then I'll sell it on Ebay and make a fortune Thanks Al

Hey Guys I expect you to give true and honest opinions, I RESPECT that.
You have to take the good with the bad. I know this tree is almost hopeless but I just have to try and make it pleasing to the eye in someway.

Walter: see's something that bothers him he will tell you and maybe try and fix it for you. I like using these forums to get a collective opinion that maybe I just couldn't see. This tree has stumped me ever since I purchased it for $10.00. I thought it was going to die on me there at one time but it took off now I have to do something to it. I knew that the trunk was near hopeless as it stands now but I believe that a little bit of shari and some jin work this tree may surpise me and even you Matt

With great respect
John
