I think I screwed up twice on the same tree

All the gentlemen with experience on collected trees seem to agree my RMJ won't make it (so I screwed up, it's not the first time or the last). When I first worked on the tree, I wanted the side with the triple trunk to be the front, so I carved on it a little,ok a lot. After I wired it I now think I like the second picture showing more foliage better. Just for fun which side do you like as the front. This will probably the last I time I can post a picture of it with green foliage. I can always make a nice tanuki.

Sorry to hear that your RMJ might not make it Harry.

With the limited experience I have, I've not yet been able to know what life line supports what foliage on junipers. I have had success by removing foliage then waiting six to twelve months before removing bark.

As to the front, i like the left picture with the triple trunk.

Harry,
Just leave it be, it may have enough energy to survive, it may fluorish, it is just very risky to do more at this time. Patience my friend, patience.

Not to worry Walt, I usually do everything the hard way, trial and error. The next one I will follow convention. Bad hobby for a guy with no patience.

think you're right, harry. second pic seems better but you'd need to 'emphasis' the new front through more carving. suppose you'll end up with a more modest live vein, which is what you wanted, isn't it....

maybe rotate bonsai in 2nd pic a bit more towards viewer ...?

or

rotate pot in 1st pic slightly away from viewer (right side moving towards the window)..?

Don,
You are so bad. Don't you have an ambulance to chase or something? John

I do have some poor, little old, fraudulent plaintiffs to expose...
Harry was telling me yesterday that he loves lawyers because otherwise he would only hear blond jokes. I'd rather hear a good lawyer joke too
