I Was Gonna Chuck This Hawthorn, But...

... it went and grew some roots while I was wasn't looking...

Please find attached pics of a boring little Hawthorn I had collected early in my Bonsai life (late 90sor early 00s, I guess). The first pic shows it as it was about 2 years ago, during a repot. Sure - it's got some roots in this photo, but that's nothing compared to the roots it has now, after 2 years in a shallow growing box (see the latter 4 pics).

Still don't know if this is a keeper, but I just thought I'd share the joy of roots.

Thanks.

Fly.

That has potential and for a young man, with plenty of time it will be realised I'm sure. Good luck Pup

Nice structure and good nebari you have every right to be chuffed. Been looking for a hawthorn for a while, might go digging soon.

Gday Pup, UlmusYoungMan and Ash!

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll keep this one for one more year, or until I kill it - whichever comes first. Sadly, my few remaining deciduous trees get ignored for 11.5 months a year, and it is only at repotting time that I appreciate the small achievements I've made with them. Gotta love a tree that can stand being bare-rooted!

Look out for a possible throwaway Pomegranate and Crepe Myrtle soon, too.

Thanks again.

Fly.

Nice. I have a three or four planted out in garden beds - I'll be extremely happy if they end up with nebari as nice as this...
