Thanks....good hearing from you. During the fall season I always wish I had more deciduous species around to work with.

Regards,
Tom

Hey Tom. Good to see your work. A 5 minute go at a possible potting change???

Hope all is well.

The vitual mirror flip bugged me so I did a virtual moving it over to the right of the pot. I also shortened the foliage on the right and filled out the branch below. Otherwise the move to the right wouldn't work very well.

Very nice tree. I really like the trunk line. How tall is it and how long have you had it? There isn't enough cold where I am to get hornbeam color, the leaves simply turn brown.

Hi Rich and Carmen....Good to hear from you both. Thanks so much for your input. I am attaching a photo. before I shifted the planting angle of the composition...I did so to help conceal the too-thick apical region - I let it get a bit out of hand over the years...Carmen: I have had the trees since spring of 1992 (purchased as young stock at an ABS show). The current height of the composition is 19 inches. Rich: things are going well, thanks...how about with you?

Best regards,
Tom

Much better! I didn't realize the smaller trunk swept around and filled in what I thought was the lower branch of the main trunk, or it is a trick of the photo?

Do you have any ideas or plans for the future? I notice there is a little bud back on the smaller trunk to let grow. Maybe part of the "comb over" could be used for an approach graft or thread graft on the main trunk. You have such a nice base, it deserves a great head of "hair".

Good thoughts, Carmen, and thanks...no photo. tricks...just trying to create a bit of an illusion, as most of us do now and again.

Tom

Hi Tom. " a bit of an illusion", isn't that what it's all about? Nice tree, I like the yellow leaves. We don't get color down here. They just turn brown and fall off. But then we don't shovel snow either, so if I want color, guess I'll look at your trees. LOL
Have fun, Larry

This is the composition this spring...the slab is collected native sandstone. It seems to remind me more now of a scene from our deciduous forests here in northern West Virginia...at least that is what I am trying to convey.

Regards,
Tom
