Hobbiton, late summer.

Hello,

As promised in this post, here are some more pictures of Bag End. To see some springtime pictures, go here.

Try as I might, I just can't get a picture of the occupants...

Regards,

Chris.

I have to say, I'm rather pleased with how this is progressing. The tree has filled in nicely, some bothersome gaps in the canopy are now gone.

The 'lawn' moss has taken well, it is nice and smooth and green.

The scraggy moss on top is maybe just a bit too scraggy, but it does give a nice wild-ish hillside look.

The only minor problem is that the clay used in the peat/clay muck leaches out, leaving a white deposits on the slab. I know it's not hard water deposits because this only gets rainwater. You can't see this deposit in the photos beacuse I sprayed the slab with water gefore photographing.

Regards,

Chris.

Awesome!

This is awesome! I commend you for your spectacular work! I really like LOTR and well the landscape you did. I love it.

Very inspiring too...makes me want to do an Isengard...or perhaps you could if you wanted to challenge yourself further? Anyway, this is excellent and very original..

Keep up the excellent work!
Mick

P.S. Did you make the front of the house or did you buy it?

Many thanks for this update Chris. It would be interesting for Peter Jackson to view this masterpiece and hear his comments. Great to see that you are fastidious in maintaining this wonderful gem.

Kind Regards Ash

Chris, a wonderful work of art and the article is well written with superb photographs. You are a very talented man. If you keep this up, I could foresee a book deal in your future.

As Always,

Jim

Sincere thanks for all your kind words, thanks Ian for the clarifying link.

My next trayscape is in the planning stage, all I will say right now is "Royal Mail"...

Regards,

Chris.
