hawthorn
hello posted a picture of a hawthorn i have worked on it a bit and taken a lot of the lower trunk of and shari ed it a bit.
the main help would be for the branch work. what would i grow it like and where would i grow new branch structure . Scott |

The main difficulty with this tree is not the branches, but the roots. The root base has a very unstable appearance.
Unless you have a second set of roots below the first (and I'm hoping you do?), this is going to be a tough old tree: You could elevate the soil level up to the aerial roots or air layer the trunk to get a new set. In either case I think the front from over at 2 o'clock or the opposite side at 7 o'clock are the best choices. The other sides are definitely "not the front" Regards, Matt
