Glad to have you all smiling!

I was doing the same a few minutes ago, looking over the photo's i made this afternoon when repoting some of my trees!
Look at the deadwood on this Dutch yamadori "Hawthorn", brings a smile to my face every time i look at it!
It is in its early stages off developing, so i can't hardly wait to see it in the future!
Hans.

This one was a bid off a disappointment! It is my pride "Mugo"yamadori from Italy . I had a really nice pot made for it by Brian Allbright, and had planed for it to be showed for the first time at the Ginkgo next year..... but the tree did not fit in the pot with out risking it's health (gggggggrrrrrrrr), So i had to repot it in a ugly plastic training pot, were it will stay for a couple off years more, so new roots can grow! I hope than that i can cut off the large roots that hinder the use off a smaller pot!

But seeing this pic i still cant be to sad for having to work on it for a few years longer!
Hans.

Hans, It takes a lot of human fortitude to resist prematurely planting a plant in a show pot. That is the one thing that I have had to learn in the last 10 years. I used to be so bad about potting a plant to soon and would kill it everytime. Good on you!

Here are some pics off repoting my "Palmatum" , They show the importance off creating a good roots system, right from the first time you work on the roots! Now i only have to cut off a part off roots, witch mostly consist out off small feeder roots. With a little help from a shop-stick, it is very easy to shake out most off the old soil. Cut off all the roots that grow down on the underside off the bonsai, clean off some off the top soil near the base of the trunk with some water and work and rearrange the root base a little . Make a little mound off soil in the pot, twist the bonsai with a little pressure down on this pile off soil, anchor it with some wire and finished! All don in 20 min, with out much stress for the bonsai and me.

And the last one!
And a picture off my "Mugo mops"shoin from Spain.
I found a very nice second hand Japanese pot for it for just a few Euros. It has nicely cracked glaze witch give it a old look!
