Re: Golden Scotts Pine

Hi There James,

I think you should go back to step 1 and prune the pine back. But I agree; the bonsai is in there.

Re: Golden Scotts Pine

Hi James,

I think your tree has a lot of potential. I it was mine I would shorten it, and remove a few branches that are "handlebars" (placed opposite of each other). One of the top branches could be wired up as a new apex. If it's bend a bit to the right it would follow the movement of the bottom half of the tree and make an "S" shape. I made a virtual to show you what I mean.

regards, René

Re: Golden Scotts Pine

Hello James,
I like C, then B - best. C probably will look better because if shorter, the trunk will be better proportioned. But I have to say that I am very much an amature. I have great difficulty with my own Pine.
Anyhow, I hope it helps...
Regards
Eric

Re: Golden Scotts Pine

Matt

So which do you think - A, B or C .
I like C the best but also like the height of B.
I think A can be rulled out.
C is the easiest of the two to achieve - simply cut the top two 'sections' off and let it grow and bud back a bit and hey presto.

I cant decide - the more i look at it more confused i get :- lets have a vote!!!

Re: Golden Scotts Pine

My vote is for C. A does not look real! B is better but C is the most realistic looking tree of the group! the branches and leaf pads are in more of a triangle shape and pleaseing to the eye
