Fun with American Bonsai TOD

This is to try and have some fun after wearing myself out thinking about American Bonsai, styles, forms, etc, over the past few days. Since all my trees are deciduous (except one) I don't get much in the way of instant rewards (grow it out, chop it back, etc.). Early this spring I took an afternoon and had a little fun.

The Critique:

I have read lots about the concieved notions from Japan and Europe about where American Bonsai stands today. So......how well did I do, or badly as the case may be, trying to achieve that ultimate American (instant gratification, no regard for the rules, etc.) Bonsai.

PLEASE 'let it all hang out' and critique the thing into submission (trying to bring out all the pre-concieved notions). Please give the tree, display, and artist all they deserve.

The subject: 40 inches tall when found at a garden store five minutes from my house. Totally root bound with lots of black in a two gallon pot. From finding it to finished, including this picture, a grand total elapsed time of one hour and thiry eight minutes. The pot is about 8 1/2 inches long.
