Fuchsia for Bonsai?
Hi All,
Just bought this Fuchsia Genii today. It's a hardy species, as I believe. It's 45 cm high, 2 cm trunkdiameter, standing in a tokoname pot. It's planted in 100% akadama. The style is mother/daughter. I think this tree proofs that Fuchsia can be used for bonsai. Just wanted to let you all enjoy. Wessel

Nice tree.
I have experimented with fuchsia a bit here in New Jersey, and have come to the conclusion that most of the varieties I have tried (both as potted plants, and as bonsai) have difficulty with the heat (90 degrees plus) here in the summer. In Montreal, at the Jardin Botanique (in pots), when the temperatures got high, they watered them copiously. As a coolant, perhaps? Any ideas? Last edited by Bart Thomas : 29-Jul-2005 at 12:12 PM. |

Mr. Wessel
You have made the choice of a very nice tree...I would be most happy to have such a tree in my garden, but as Mr. Bart pointed out the heat would quickly destroy a fuchsia here also... Mr. Wolfgang Putz from Austria has some of the most beautiful fuchsai trees I have seen, both as garden trees and as bonsai...He has many different varieties, and worth the effort to see photos of the many beautiful blooms in all their vibrant colors...His website is Bonsai-Website von Putz Wolfgang I wish you the best in the care and development of this one...You definately have a good one to enjoy... Regards Behr ![]()
