This is maybe one of my best trees (if not the best)... This was a natural bonsai, I have it in the growbox to help it to thicken the trunk... here is a pic of it...

Is this the same tree from the Swimming with Ants thread
http://forum.bonsaitalk.com/showthr...=&threadid=1118 It has come a long way from the early photos. The compound leaves really look like individual branches and leaves. A nice radial root system is usually preferred to a few large surface roots, but having a few radial roots is better than none! Regards, Matt

Splinter:
No, this has different kind of growing habits, Jacarandas push the branches way up, this spreads them a little... and the flowers of this one are bright red... This is a more pretty tree, my Jacarandas are still small ![]() Shambala: Maybe, 2 or 3 moths... and it will be there for much more, maybe 2 or 3 years, deppends on how it develops... Now you believe me that Guatemala is the everlasting spring country? thanks for your replies, take care...

Sounds like a very pretty tree. Will you post some photos when it flowers?
Thanks! |

Sure I'll do, but it can be in some months, years or decades, this kind of tree, as Jacarandas, flower when they are really old, and as this one is not that old..., don't know...
I don't know the age I can pressume it's maybe 2 or 3 years old... but don't know... This came from a nursery (not a bonsai nursery), and had only a little root outside, but the trunk was cool... So I brought it home, when took out the roots... Surprise, it has like 3 or 4 roots outside now, and I'm hopping that in some years it will have more... And also had half trunk dead, so I had to cut it back hard... (Some days ago)... I did it so late, because I wanted to see if by some sort of miracle it started to bud on the top, but when scratched the trunk... well, it was useless... Well, So, I can post for now a pic of the big tree... ![]()

Ah...you're correct, the flowers are more beautiful than the Jacaranda. I wasn't thinking about the fact that some types of trees don't flower until they're very old. It will be worth the wait, huh?
