First Favorite

Ok this is my first favorite tree that I own. I recently wired the third & fourth branches to go up alittle. I think it will make a fine Bonsai once in a pot.

First Try

Ok this is/was my first try at Bonsai about 6 months ago.
Obviously a failed attempt. I just dug it up in the middle of summer smipped half the roots and put it in a hot dry window.

Some suggestions for you:

Attend as many bonsai shows in your area as possible. Buy or borrow a copy of John Naka's Bonsai Techniques #1. Join a Club. In addition to the potted trees, plant some out in the yard to grow a bit and be sure to plant the trunks at an angle. Practice wiring and keep at it.

Regards,

Matt

Hey buddy, I think that first tree has potential. Your secind favorite tree looks good to me also. That tree that you are layering could (in my oppinion) use a couple more layers just to get new trees. Two boxwoods, are in good progress. Hey what could I say about the dead tree? Hope you learned something from it. As you know I am just as new to this as you are. So, I probly do not have a place to comment on anyones trees yet.

Plain old Portland Cement.
Cast with a butter bowl on the insied and a coolwhip bowl on the outside. I pushed nails through it for wireholes and used a peice of PVC for a drain hole.
I might stain it one day. I have one cureing right now If it comes out I will post it tomorrow. I used some wooden molding and plywood for this one.
