First Attempt .. your thoughts please
Greetings to one and all,
As a certified "newbie", I would appreciate any thoughts and suggestions with my First Attempt at making a Bonsai. The "Victim" is : Old Gold Juniper Juniperus chinesis "Old Gold" Purchased from Lowes Home Improvement Center. Less than $6.00 The attached photos are included so you may see the tree from all four sides along with a base shot. My intended view side is Photo # 1 ... the most pleasing to my untrained eye. I now realize the first mistake I made was not taking a "Before" photo to give you an idea what I started with ... looking back is always 20/20 vision. Brutal Honesty is taken as a learning tool .. so, be as helpful as you wish. Now that I have taken these first steps ... wait till next spring to re-pot? Nice victim. I like view 2 and 4 myself, but I'm a noob as well.
What are your plans for the tree? Looks like it could make a good windswept or cascade.

Hi Gordon, Your not far off the mark using the term 'certified' as that is what we should be in this genre. Welcome to the beautiful world of miniature and this idiocy called bonsaiTalk. Your choice of tree looks fine to me and i have selected #26530 as my starting point. The first two branches i would stub jin for now and select the centre trunk as my tree wiring down the first branch. when that is completed take another photo and let us see the result. Regards Ash
