Ficus Benjamina progress 11-2005 till now

Hi

This is a Ficus Benjamina which was first wired in november 2005. At the time it was 50 cm high, with a trunkthickness of about 0,8 cm. I wanted to wire it to get it more compact. The style I was looking for was Nejikan or twisted trunk. Its not quit clear, but it can also be the Bankan style. After first wiring the tree was 35 cm high.
It was repotted a few times in and out pots made by Morea Pubben.

In the photoseries you'll see the progress till today, where the tree is twisted even more and is now 20 cm high.

Hope you all like it,

Wessel

I like the shape of this tree, the curves in the trunk can look great with the downward curve of the leaves, eventually giving a rounder canopy. But I think this one might improve if planted at more of an angle tilting the top toward the right, maybe as much as 50-60 degrees. Given that the canopy is left open enough to not visually outweigh the feminine trunk this will tree will be great.Nice work so far man.

It looks like some the of Imported small Shimpaku Junipers from japan. I really like how much you've bent the trunk.

Updated!!

Hi,

I've repotted, rewired and gave the Ficus a haircut today. Height at the moment is 20 cm, so it's turning into shohin. At next repot, next year or in 2010 it wil be put in a slightly shallower and less wide pot. The bark is darker, cause it was wet during photographing.

Comments are welcome as always,

Wessel

G'day Wessel...

"...pots made by Morea Pubben..."

You are very lucky to have access to such a talented potter...
