Ficus Benjamina 1 year progress
Hi friends.
I've brougth these 3 Ficus Benjamina's november 2005. (pic 1) They were about 1,8 m (70 inch) in height. At home, I removed them from their pot and cutted them down to about 30 cm. No leaves or branches remained. Also the roots were drasticly cut sofar that they would grow in these kind of bonsaipots. The progress is about 1 of them. After the cut in november 2005 it was allowed to grow without disturbance till the end of summer 2006, first 6 months it grew at work, where there's 5 days, 24 hour a day, light and where it stands in a south-east window. May 2006 I took it home where it was placed gradually in full sun. In september 2006 it was placed indoors again, this time in my house, over the central heater in a south facing window. I spray it now every day and water it twice a week. Every 3 weeks its fertilized with normal houseplant fertilizer. Since november 2006 its in a online "classroom indoor lecture" which is done on the German bonsaiforum, so since than much work is done. I crafted a branch and cutback a lot of new growth. This is how it looks at the moment. The tree is now 23 cm (9 inch) high and has a trunkbase of 6,5 cm (2,5 inch) I hope that the crafted branch can be cut off in september of this year, than the real build up can commence. I hope you all enjoy this conversion from a normal houseplant into a bonsailike tree, please feel free to ask any questions or to comment. Wessel
