Ficus Air Layer Took 3 Weeks!

hi all,
i just went down to my large ficus to moisten my air layers and noticed that the layers are full of roots, 1 even had roots bulging out of the little pot i use , so i took it off and potted it up,
obviously it has a long way to go , the leaves and branches are all facing the side of the tree that the sun used to come from but with a little bit of time and some training it should come along nicely, the pot it is in is small but i had nothing else available and couldn't wait till shopping day next week , so i will leave it in this for about a year and then put it in a grow box to thicken the trunk ,
and no kidding , it did only take 3 weeks.
what do you guys think?
carp.

heres an update on the layer.
i went out to the garden this morning and picked up the layer,
all the holes at the bottom of the pot had roots just about sticking out, so i went ahead and wired it up.
heres the result, bear in mind that this tree has now been off the parent for 2 weeks and the layer only took 3 , this thing is going absoloutly balistic.

That's really cool! I'm trying a ficus air layer right now myself. Though mine has only been on for 3 days.

what i would really like is some virtuals of this tree and what you guys think it might look like after 5-10 years in a grow box, what branches need to go ect
heres one i did this morning following Matt's qiuck lesson , i think i did alright , although the tree will probably look nothing like this , it gives me something to aim at.....
i borrowed different parts of trees from the gallery on this website, hope nobody minds.
cheers

1 tip i might offer ,
i have only tried this and been successful with ficus in my back yard, they are incredibly resiliant trees , especially Benji's,
make sure that the wound you make is at least an inch long and goes right down to the cadmium, i have had layers just heal themslves over as if nothing happened and all you end up with is a big ugly scar., i don't think it matters to much if you dont take the bark off all the way around the branch, i always leave a little strip around 1/2 a cm thick.
also it's good if you can get a little branch that will fit inside the layer . cut it back to the first node , apply rooting hormone to it as well .
good luck propogating some nice tree's .
for me air layering is turing out to be just as addictive as bonsai it'self.
