Father's Day Tree

Father's Day started on Saturday when the wife took me to one of the local nurseries and said pick out a tree. What make it even nicer is this is a nursery she has refused to patronize for nearly 20 years because they were rude to her when she went there with our daughter (about 18 months old at the time). There were several I thought about but since she hinted that the budget was $50, here's the Trident Maple I picked out.

The trunk is nearly 2.5 inches just above the roots. My plan is to airlayer it at either of the yellow lines. The final chop will be below the lower line after new branches pop. It's not the greatest tree but when you consider the other trees were bean poles or had really mangled trunks or were out of my price range.

Nice father's day gift. Looks like it has potential.

All I got was a new BBQ grill.

Bill, sounds like a pretty good day! Glad you had a good one!

Don't worry about it ksbonsai. Not a peep from my two grown kids.

Kids! I know it's hard not to worry about them when they don't call or write, but I've found that when they do decide to make contact, it's all the sweeter than a "it's a holiday/birthday so I have to call to make them feel better" call. We went thru a period with our son that I really didn't want to hear from him because it was rarely good or positive news and he wanted $$ or to whine about things he could change, then he would just hang up leaving me angry & frustrated.

Nobody said having kids would be easy. Hey all you guys are from Kansas. I am going just north of you to help bring my son and daughter-in-law back here to the "left coast" in July. Nothing like the midwest. I am going to see what plants I can saftly bring back to Cawle-fornia.

Peace
Bob
