He told me he bought it from a bonsai dealer a few years ago, as a 'patio pine'. I don't think it's ever seen a bonsai pot, it has been trained in some sort of unformal upright style but I think it was intended to be a specimen tree for someone's garden. Wierd huh? Unfortunatly it hasn't been repotted or pinched back for a while, so it's a bit scruffy.

He has a couple of large trees like this, but I think he wants to keep hold of them. I'm gonna help him do a repot at some point.

He wouldn't accept any money for it. I even offered him a BC but he didn't want any more trees or plants, too busy to deal with any more so he says! He wants the pot back though, for an xmas tree. I have a couple I could pot up for him.

I don't think I have the heart to sell it! My mum wasn't happy when I brought it home. Wait 'til she sees all the needles that fell off in the car...

ElGringo, I'm sure Dai Ichi bonsai have some of these white patio pine very similar size on their web site and if I'm right, could be wrong they where £1800. Yes that's two zeros. Their web site is down at the moment so I can't check.

For those of you in the US, £1800 is about $1,000,000 at the present exchange rate ha ha only joking. Our economies close behind yours and in free fall too. Perhaps in line with dropping house prices, bonsai prices may come down too. Lets hope so. Though we'll never get a bargain like you ElGringo

That's $3,000,000 in Oz just so you cobbers don't feel left out.

Thats a lot of money! I couldn't sell this one though. After all, it's the 'family tree' now.
