I know fall is a ways off yet especially for those of us in the southwest, so here's a teaser of things to come. This is a Korean Hornbeam of mine taken last fall.

Here it is bonsaial, just for you. This pic was taken in mid April right after the leaves hardened up.

I love the apex on the canopy. That is one gorgeous tree.

Now for my question. You didn't think you would get by without a critique)

Have you ever thought about a larger low oval tray. I would like to do a virtual, what do you think? Bonsaial

Just finished putting your tree in a new pot. I really like the low oval tray for a gracefull tree such as you have. Peter D. Adams is very good putting those big gracefull maples in these type of trays. I think you have a real winner here.

Al,

I love the tree; I love the pot. I even love the tree in that shape of pot.

But is the pot not too light for the tree?

(I do agree that it will be gorgeous come late fall as the leaves die and linger on the branches.)

Fondly,
Old Mister

Maybe? If I find a nice darker pot that works I will post that too. My main goal here was to introduce the look of the tree to a larger, lower, type pot. I just think it is much more dramatic when the pot is as large as the canopy. I feel the present pot makes the tree seem unbalanced and would tip over. I know it won't but my eyes see it that way.
