bonsaial1:

I like the pot, but it looks a smidge too wide. Usually you want a bout 2/3 to 3/5 the height and this setup is about as close to 1:1 as I can measure with my fingertips.

Regards,

Matt

Interesting - I did a set of virtuals with pots of different widths. The ratio of height (base of nebari to top) to pot width is shown at the upper right corner. The ratio in Al's virtual is about 1.1

I actually think I like the 1:1 best, but I acknowledge that the 1:0.75 is more traditional.

Bonsaial;
Thanks a lot for the virtual work you did. I believe I have to start looking for a new pot for this tree. Out of the three that Mr. crow did, I think I like the 1:1 the best, which is your original one. Thanks to all of you, I really appreciate it.

Just a minor clarification - Al's original virtual was 1:1.1, whereas the left hand side of mine is 1:1.0

Cheers,
Old Mister

I think the 1 to 1 looks the best because of the thick folliage. If the leaves were more sparce, I think the .75 to 1 would most likely look better.
