Fall BONSAI colors

I saw a thread on fall TREE colors but don't remember seeing anything on strictly bonsai colors. How about starting one. If there was one, and I missed it, sorry. Maybe Matt can just move this there.
Here in the US this year some areas seem to have had great fall colors and some not. Although my local trees looked great many of the bonsai were un-impressive. The tridents, zelkova, hornbeams were "blah" up until the leaves all fell off. Most of the J. maples bonsai were nothing to spectacular this year. The large "BloodgoodMaples" were outstanding but still in work-up stage in large nursery containers. They turned overnight one night. Amazing!
The Ginkgos were there usual pretty selves but I showed some last year.
Here's the only J. Maple that actually looked pretty good.
Lets see some other folks' trees.

more fall color

Well... the fall color this year has been terrible, but if I dig into my photo archives and think I can see your crab apple and raise you one Korean hornbeam.

Love the Dissectum above! I have one as well and the color this year was AMAZING! It took a long time for it to start, but once it did, it was over before I got a chance to snap a picture. Its bare branched now . . . it was quite a sight though!

007: I know what you mean about dissectums this year - literally an overnight color change, following by leaf drop. I love working with this cultivar and thanks for your kind words...one word of caution - I never leaf prune this cultivar - I was told this many years ago by many learned artists (Vance Wood for one). I only remove overly long shoots occasionally, and during leaf out in the spring I always pinch the center buds in leaf clusters...don't mean to be forward or pushy...

Regards,
Tom
