Absolutely beautiful! If it wasnt for the leaf size, the "sister" could be mistaken for a full sized tree in a photograph.

Can i ask what your soil mix is? A lot of grit?

The soil mix I use has been adopted by my club. It is the "Richgrow native soil mix ( bought from Bunnings )with Zeolite ( bought from my club ) added. The old KISS principle.

Do you sift at all? I went to a bonsai demonstration a while ago and the people there were saying they never sift and they excelent, healthy trees. But all over the internet all i hear about is sifting everything. The soil i buy is bonsai soil already mixed from a good bonsai nursery and it is already sifted.

I have a few young eaucalypts and an angophora. I have read Fly's threads many trimes aswell. I think bonsai with australian natives are great and i wish to head into that direction in the future. At the moment i have a few natives but quiet a broad spectrum of species that are not native.

No I do not sift my mix. The Richgrow is a good mix. When I am potting I remove any large bits but thats not often. With the added Zeolite I have found all my non natives and natives are very healthy.

In my early days of Bonsai I had a lot of poor result because of the advice given to me by the so called experts. At this point I decided to simplify my mix. A good quality potting mix and aquarium gravel.
When I started on natives I sourced a good native potting mix and also when zeolite became avalible I replaced the gravel with it.

I have used this format for 11 years on all my trees with great success.
