elm in winter

during summer 1998 i was out for a walk with the dog on the edge of town. workmen were clearing trees and bushes from the roadside to widen the road. They had knocked off for the day and gone home, so i went for a look to see what they were killing.
it was in the middle of a bunch of stuff all growing tightly together. its height at that time was about 25 ft tall and was growing in cinders. it came out of the ground with hardly any effort, and after a quick shortening job with branch cutters i was on my way home with a gift from the gods.
2 years in a training pot to grow a new set of branches and then into a bonsai pot. and now its just consant refining the tree.

Nice tree, TL but I don't see how you took a 25' foot tall tree to this bonsai in 5 years. Care to elaborate on your training techniques? Just how long is your growing season over there in the UK?
