Hey.... did I see you in Canada last week

Believe me when I say that I share what I am doing, because it is too important to be kept for myself alone. I have to extend the generosity that is being given to me, or I would feel ungrateful.

And if one needs a bonsai family... this is not a bad one to have.

Kindest regards,

Victrinia

Rockm, how did you come to know this fellow who helped you out? Did he live nearby?

Ive seen alot of your posts and have come to respect your knowledge. I would be glad to come help you with your bald cypress but by mapquest your still 5-6 hours away from me - and your one of the closer bonsaitalk members I have noticed!

I read - ALOT.... I have books, I live on the internet, etc but theres no substitute for experience - someone who has been there done that. For that matter, alot of the "principles" vary out there depending on who you typed the web page or book.

Even so - people live very busy lives, outside of my family, work and house chores/improvements - theres little time for second jobs etc.

So as I continue to grow trunks, chop them, and style some of the older stock I have, its always a little bit leap of faith that i have read and understood certain principles. If I didnt get them right, its just back to the drawing board and a little deeper into my wallet.

Vic I have noticed your posts too. Your one of the more enthusiastic folks I have seen on here - always a good thing.

No that wasnt me in Canada - I never make it out of NC unless its on business. But I am a huge Star Wars fan (and all around geek) Folks love it when I forget to turn my mobile off and the imperial march goes off in a meeting. (im actually a little surprised by the number of people who catch what that tune is!)

I am asked all the time, by people who arn't into bonsai.... "Does he pay you?"

I tell them that I am being given what would be a vastly expensive bonsai education for my efforts. I explain what conventions cost, and one on one instruction with noted masters costs... then their eyes get a little wide. And they say... "ohhhhhhhhhhhh......."

PLUS... it's saving me money. I'm getting my bonsai addiction met to such a degree, I havn't bought a single tree this season. Mostly I am waiting to be able to buy some stock that Dan will have available this summer... collected Mountain Hemlocks from north Vancouver Island in Canada.

(grin)

Dan wants me to bring in my huge Hinoki.... so we can work on it together. This has some people terrified. I am perfectly and completely thrilled about the thought. I potted it this spring though... and it hasn't grabbed the pot yet, as big as it is, I don't want it traveling in the back of my truck just yet... it would be a sail...

But I hope, later this summer, to show that big girl to him and see what we come up with.

Your friend in all things,

Victrinia

PS... and you best know that if I was in Ohio... I'd be living in your backyard.

Well I hope seeing the photo entertained you. I was pleased when he FINALLY got around to playing the imperial march...

Thank you for the kind remark. Enthusiasum... I do have that in spades. I try and infect everyone I can with it.

Kindest regards,

Victrinia
