dwarf schefflera arboricola
i have aquired a dwarf schefflera recently and i was wondering where i should go with the styling. i want to acheive a umbrella style but i dont know if i should cut back the bigger branches. it is planted in a lava rock and has some interesting arial roots.
please give advise/comments. thanx |

I could bet you $10 you got it from Fuku Bonsai.
Anyway, I think you should plant it out of that rock and into a pot, then allow it to grow out. Whether you want to get rid of the heavy branches depends on how you want this tree to end up. If you want a wide, low crown, you'll probably want to keep most of the branches. If you want a higher crown, go ahead and hack off the low, heavy branches (after letting it grow out).
