defoliated maple

Well here is a case of technology gone wrong. I was going to show the defoliating of this maple but because of me not working correctly with my technology I have lost all of my before pictures. So here is the last picture that shows this maples winter silhouette in mid summer. Some of the benefits of summer defoliation are.
When the tree has no leaves you can see what limb structure you want to cut and correct.
Defoliating once a year in summer will increase the trees ramification.
The new crop of fall leaves will have better fall color.
If you use this technique be shure that your tree is well fed and very healthy as you could severly stress a week tree.
As a last thought, Al, this maple has no chops at all, a 1 in. trunk and 19 in. tall

Rip,

I love the proportions on that tree! That's exactly the sort of thing I'm trying to do with several of my maples. Only, I'm not doing it as well.

I sure would like to see a picture of it in leaf or, better yet, fall color...
