Is it dead? No!

I have this here plum which I repotted too early I suspect. I did it in January or February this year when it was really mild here in Holland. Then we had the coldest March on record. Great.

Anyway my plum started growing some leaves in April and I thought, fine it's a bit late but there you go. Then all the leaves died and I figured it was history.

I came THIS close to throwing it out twice since I was so pissed off at myself that I'd managed to kill it, but each time I didn't have the heart...

Hi Jeremy,

This post made me laugh. I nearly did the same thing with my Chinese ash and Pomegranate. Neither looked like they'd made it through the winter and I was not too optimisic about the ash, seens as it lost its leaves due to a insect infestation in late September.

Two days after I repotted the ash, a tiny leaf appeared. Now its doing fine. Patience is a virtue, and definately the biggest attribute to have in bonsai.

All the best,

Aaron

Mother nature is an amazing lady. I think she is angry at many of my trees however.

Thumbs up

Hi Jeremy, My experience of plums is similar.I have quite a few cherry plums
(collected) and late spring '04 we had a really hot two days the new leaves on one exposed to the direct rays dried up and fell south. Oh! Oh! i exclaimed or words to that effect. Ever the optomist i placed it in the shade and watered as usual, lo and whatever within a week it gave me a new show of smaller leaves. This tells me prunus are tough mummy's impervious to heat or cold, super trees worthy of a screenplay and one sequel.
Have we bonded or what J Regards Ash
