bonsaiTALK Hint: Did you know you can double click any bonsai term on this page for its definition?

Dancing Pine And New Site!

Strand Bonsai is now completely redone from scratch. New URL, new design and much easier to update for the future. It was a lot of work, so do take a look! There are even fragments of my family on the front page

http://www.bonsai.se

Klick the English language flag on the top if you are uncomfortable with Swedish!

Here is a strange pine from the case studies section. Please comment! (I am a grown person so don’t be shy)

Happy New Year!
Stefan

Thumbs up

Lovely
This is what I like
The trees look like dramatic art. They look if the have to tell a lot.
Would these trees were mine.
Also the pot was a good choice.
Have a map on my computer with very nice bonsai.
Your pines are in that map now, so that I can look to them whenever I want.
No doubt... 5 stars because I may not give more.

Thanks for the response!

How about the size of the pot, should it go down one step?

Enjoying your site , loads of info there..the case studies are superb. You must take notes on work done..? A very comprehensive article on Mycorrhiza, an important factor when growing potted plants with soiless mix.
love the posted pine....maybe a 'lil thining in the apex
with a shallower pot?..not smaller though.

a note concerning your lanky pine...
i love the tree and rock .. good composition ..
but.. it feels like it's fallin out of the pot to the right.
I did a virtual moving current pot over and it was to small.
So, I did a rough sketch .. thoughts

Hi Tom, you are absolutely right!

The lanky pine belongs further to the left in the pot. And as you say, then the pot is perhaps to small.

At soil line this tree almost turned 90 degrees (that's why I put the rock there) so it is not easy to have less soil space to the left. However, your post makes me think about simply using a slightly wider pot to give a better ballance.

Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your site with us. I am enjoying your "case studies" and was interested in your comment that you wanted to stay with native material. Since it appears that you are collecting most of your bonsai material - that certainly makes sense.

After the recent posts by Walter and visiting his website and now yours - I must admit wondering if my nursery grown trees will ever have the character that collected ones do. I am hoping they will get there in time!

Thanks again - I have bookmarked your site for future persusal.
