My elms seem to have what is called black spot fungus - the leaves turn a spotted yellow-brown, then turn burnt black, curl up and dry out. I have the misfortune of having sprayed the tree with water because I thought I had insects, which, unfortunately spread the fungus to two more of my elms. This is a left over from last year when I sprayed with copper which did nothing. The trees are better this year with only a few leaves tuning black and drying out. I'll keep on trying and will keep you up to date.
