Cow pasture collecting

One of our club members received permission to collect some Arborvitae which had been growing in this field for well over 15 years. The area was once used for nursery material. More recently, cows grazed in this fenced in pasture and the owner was happy to have the trees removed.

This sequence shows one of the two trees I collected.

I see a bright future for this tree. Very good find.

Irish...we have had no rain for 32 days, so pastures are looking kinda lame, though they will likely never rival the Emerald Isle. My dad was born in Belfast though I have not made it there myself yet.

NICE stock John!
These are pretty hard to kill from collecting. You'll be suprised how they seem to fill a pot completely with great new roots every year!

That's good to know, as I was not very delicate in excavating it! It's actually been raining for the last two days so Mother Nature is helping out. Looks good so far!
