will, i would have done a virt or posted a suggestion about the barberry, but i like it the way your going, very spooky and beaten looking. maybe a shallower pot would be in order, but nothing else really came to mind. the jade is pretty much the same in my view, some growth to help with pad development. maybe i am just not feeling creative today, but thats what i see.

thank you for your comments, they are much appreciated. Yes, they will both end up in shallower pots, I have the jade in a over sized pot since most my good roots are deep, this will get a new pot in about a year if all goes well. The barberry I have in a pond basket now (notice the perforated sides) that I use for training, I root pruned it heavy so I wanted to create some fiberous rootage, although I am taking suggestions and shopping for a pot now (have no ideal yet) I will not be ready to repot for a least a year.

Speaking of training pots, have any of you ever used these pond planter baskets? They are the best thing next to the ground in my opinion.

Hi Rich. It's nice to see a local boy here!

I've been wanting to get up to Tom's shop this week and see what he has done with the other Crassula Ovata's from that pot I bought. He had created a real nice double trunk out of one piece, but as of then, he had yet to start on the rest.

I got this pot full a franks on groesbeck and 696, they had two others left when I got this. This one had some nice trees but the one I kept (shown here) was the tallest and had the widest trunk width.

Keep in touch Rich, and welcome to the forum.

Thanks ST, there are still good starters at the box stores if you take the time to look beyond the pot. Good luck.

Just a couple of comments on both your trees.
If they were mine I would simplify them just a bit.
Not being all that good with virtuals I just put red lines where I would cut things off.
On the barberry I would shorten the branches on the left to about where the red line is.
The branch on the top would come off. Then I would work on building up the foliage pads

On the jade I would get rid of the lower right branch. And then again work on building up the foliage pads.
Other then that I think that you are on the right track.
Mind you working with pictures is not nearly as good as the tree in person. A three dimensional thing always gets distorted in a two dimensional plane. For me at least.
Hope this helps a bit and that it was ok to touch up your pictures a bit
